Insight Tarot - iOS App
A Personal Project
By 2020, mobile gaming had become the dominant force in the industry, accounting for nearly half of all global revenue in the space. With a genuine fascination in divination, esoteric knowledge, and ancient symbolism, I turned my attention to the Tarot and I Ching app space and found it largely stagnant: cluttered interfaces, clunky mechanics, and the better experiences came at a steep price.
I saw an opportunity to offer something upscale and accessible. The app would be free to download but premium in feel, with inline ads at the card reading stage supporting a freemium model. At the centre of it all would be a fully custom card deck of over 70 original illustrations. After auditing the landscape across mobile and desktop, I mapped a path forward, defining core features, a monetization strategy, and a UX framework. The project culminated in a full style guide and high-fidelity mockups prepared for investor and partner pitches. Ultimately, I shelved the concept because, while I could provide individualized card reads, AI-based summarization did not exist at the time. Now that AI can dynamically summarize, I am reinvesting in the app design and development in Spring 2026.
